Anže Sekelj is a media artist predominantly active in the field of installation, sound, interactive design and video. Through his work, he challenges perceptions of space, culture, and the human condition, highlighting un-noticed structures of daily existence. He cleverly uses multimedia techniques, always blurring the lines between the used means of expression, while maintaining a consistent but diverse body of work. By merging aesthetics with layered meaning, his works create immersive, thought-provoking experiences that invite reflection and critical dialogue.
In my project, Scapes, I explore the intricate relationship between environmental sounds and human experience, drawing from the principles of soundscape ecology. This project investigates how biophony (natural sounds), geophony (non-biological natural sounds), and anthrophony (human-made sounds) influence our perception of landscapes and the emotional responses they evoke. The project is intended to be a site-specific installation, designed to be placed in a public space. It aims to engage with the surrounding environment and community, fostering a dialogue between the artwork, its location, and the public.
