Le Dit du bambou, Souk de la parole

© G.Thyssen

A bamboo village sitting at the heart of the city. Covering an area of 1,200 square metres and rising ten metres above the ground, a giant bazaar comes to life with architecture as light as it is transient. Actors, singers, slammers, storytellers and poets have stalls, trading the whispers and words that are the food of our thoughts and dreams.
The show dreamt up by Francine Vidal (Caracol) begins with the scaffolding, a fun and unusual sculpture designed by the Australian troupe Bambuco, which blends voices with the sonority of the bamboo. It continues night or day for three hours non-stop. The stream of words is joined by the musicality of the languages and, thanks to sixteen interpreters, by the wealth of different cultures.
