Jean-Baptiste André founded Association W in 2002 in order to develop contemporary circus projects. It is a place for encounter, exchange and creation. From early stages, he aims at mixing different disciplines, without any specific goal other thanexperimenting with different combinations. Association W is based on the idea of leading an artistic transversal research, enlightening a process that keeps the field of possibilities widely open. Each project is conceived with this state of mind: Mixing several disciplines not a goal in itself. It has more to do with embracing a subject, a specific condition of production, a step to be taken, with a main question : how to convey emotion and draw the audience towards a sensitive experience. Jean-Baptiste André attempts to develop exchanges with several disciplines. Until now, he has collaborated with an acrobate dancer, with writers, with visual artist, with a video designer.
Each project starts from a specific meeting that develops into a unique and new adventure, pushing the investigation process further. The company becomes a platform for production and sharing of knowledge, skills, advises, experiences. Each performance is rooted to this frame and finds an unique place to unfold.
