The Urban Culture Institute - City of Weaves is a new cultural hub located in southern Poland, in Bielsko-Biała, a city with a long history as a center for weaving and textile production. Today, weaving serves as a metaphor for the institute's method of operation: the organization works across sectors, intertwining the public and private sectors, non-governmental organizations, and artists. The institute’s main focus areas are Culture and Health, Art in Public Spaces, Strengthening the Capacity of the Cultural Sector, and Media Literacy. The Institute was founded in 2024 as part of Bielsko-Biała's candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2029. Its mission extends beyond local initiatives, focusing on cultivating impactful international collaborations and actively participating in European networks. Additionally, the organization seeks to champion cultural solutions for health, not only within the region but also on a national scale.
