IN SITU is a large-scale cooperation project led by Lieux publics,
European and national centre for artistic creation in public
space based in Marseille, France.

We support artists working outside conventional venues.

We are

organizers, artists and citizens acting with, for and within the public space.

a network, an ecosystem, a platform connecting artistic initiatives in Europe and worldwide.

We believe

in public space as a democractic
place where art brings new perspectives.

A place of encounters with the most diverse and wide audiences

An agora initiating social impact and cultivating human value

A stage revealing the sublime of artistic creation

We trust

in intercultural cooperations to bring our convictions to life through field actions.

Built by passionate programmers since 2003

IN SITU was created in 2003 by programmers (festivals, creation centres, seasons) passionate about new aesthetic trends and public space issues across Europe. It grew in scope, from 6 to 18 partners and 12 associates, now working on the whole cultural chain. It supports artists creating for local contexts, involving inhabitants and questioning the challenges of our contemporary societies.
