Markus Jeschaunig lives and works in Graz and the biosphere.
Inspired by the forces and dynamics of the lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere, Jeschaunig’s artistic works unfold in the field of tension between ecology, landscape, architecture, technology as well as public space and activism. Jeschaunig studied architecture at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design Linz and founded his own artistic practice under the title ‘agency in biosphere’ (2012). Jeschaunig is co-author of “breathe.austria – Austrian Pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan” (as a member of ‘team.breathe.austria’). He is co-founder of the transdisciplinary think-tank ‘Breathe Earth Collective’ (2015). As part of the long-term project “Signal am Dachstein” launched with the landscape opera by Strijbos & Van Rijswijk, he contributed artistically to one of the ouvertures to the glacier in 2021.
